For anyone out there who has a little musical talent and who’s dreamed of having a band it’s a fact that getting a band going without spending a lot of money is eminently possible. One only needs to understand that one should be getting only what the band needs, at first, and not what it wants. So, keep track of musical talent and then practice a great deal at first in order to make it in this very tough market.
When it comes to getting up and going, it goes without saying that people who actually know what they’re doing with their instruments is paramount. If the goal is to just get together and play in a garage, it’s really not all that important but if the goal is something more than it’s going to be important to start thinking like a professional musician in many ways.
What most of this revolves around is first of all getting out there and locating the right kind of gear that isn’t going to put you in the poor house when getting. It needs to be of good quality, though, because buying cheap gear such as a guitar will ultimately doom any musician and band to failure. In this regard, think about stuff like an Epiphone electric guitar, which is good quality but not high-priced.
Or, one could begin shopping for an electric guitar for sale by going online and looking at classified, or heading over to a couple of very popular auction sites for musical gear. Surely, more than enough gear can be found to start a band well on its way to its first paying gig, which will most likely be down at the local bar or bowling alley.
And when it comes to finding almost any kind of musical instrument or band support gear, never forget that a pawn shop usually has a wide variety of such items at a nicely discounted price. Many musicians have secured their first set of drums or even a Yamaha acoustic electric guitar from a pawnshop, and this tradition is extremely old in the music business, so don’t worry about the so-called stigma of buying from one of those places.
All of the above should be looked at with a clear eye, because it’s important to line up a few things if one hopes to get a band going but not spend a lot of money doing so. For one, no band will be good if the players in it aren’t willing to practice to be good. Also, there has to be some money spent on the right gear, so keep hitting the Internet or those pawn shops.
Keep in mind that no matter what kind of gear has been found — and it may be some of the best professional equipment in the world — it’s not going to really matter that much if you don’t know how to play at and put it together in a great sounding fashion. Getting up and going without spending a lot of money is possible, but getting it sounding good may take a bit more effort.
